London South Bank University
Founded in 1982, with a student body as diverse as the city itself, London South Bank University reflects the true face of multicultural London. The central London campus is located just a short ten minute walk to the Southbank area, home to many world-class attractions like the London Eye, Globe Theatre and Tate Modern.
The University offers one of the most strongly vocational-orientated course portfolios around and an integrated study abroad experience, studying side-by-side with 23,000 international and UK students. In addition, volunteering and internship opportunities, central accommodation and approachable faculty ensure an outstanding experience. We offer semester and year-long coursework in Arts & Media, Business, Engineering, International Politics, Sociology and Sustainability, among others.
Through their research, knowledge of the work place and professional links teaching staff maintain strong relationships with industry and the local community. This is a huge benefit to students who can be confident they are being taught by academics with highly relevant knowledge and skills.

LAW
There has never been a better time to study law at LSBU. For over 30 years, LSBU has been providing excellent and innovative law courses.
WHY CHOOSE LSBU FOR LAW
Staff Expertise
Many of LSBU’s staff continue to practise Law and are therefore able to give examples of their work to explain legal points covered in their lectures. This brings the lectures ‘to life’ and makes learning the law even more interesting for students as they understand how the law they learn with LSBU is applied in practice.
For example, Caron Thatcher, a Senior Lecturer in Law at LSBU worked alongside Imran Khan as a Solicitor for the family of Stephen Lawrence throughout their greatly publicised private prosecution, inquest, and Public Inquiry.
A Key Location
Taking advantage of LSBU’s central location and excellent, modern facilities, the Law Department has developed a thriving relationship with the legal profession.
LSBU appoints leading lawyers as visiting professors and lecturers, hosts continuing professional development training seminars for local solicitors and encourage LSBU’s many successful alumni to give careers advice and offer work placements to current students.
LSBU is just a short walk from the Royal Courts of Justice as well as being right in the heart of London’s cultural centre, the South Bank.
Successful Alumni
Many of LSBU students have gone on to great success in the law, while others have taken their legal knowledge and professional skills into a wide range of careers open to law graduates.
Working in the Law Module
Current innovations include a professional skills and placements module. The module focuses on the attributes and skills the profession requires. As an integral part of it LSBU encourages and assists students to obtain relevant work placements and volunteering opportunities.
LSBU Legal Advice Clinic
At the LSBU Legal Advice Clinic, students can work alongside staff and professional volunteers giving basic legal advice and the introduction of Criminal Litigation and Civil Litigation options on the LLB, entitling law students who take them to join the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) as Members under the ILEX graduate fast track scheme.
Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX)
The Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) is the professional body representing over 20,000 training and practicing Legal Executives and is recognised by the Ministry of Justice as one of the three core routes to becoming a qualified lawyer.
LSBU is very proud of its links with professionals practising in the local community. They have a direct positive impact on student experience and teaching quality. LSBU hosts a number of CPD lectures, inviting guest speakers and practitioners to speak on current law issues. These events are great for student networking.
