University of East Anglia

Founded in 1963 the University of East Anglia (UEA) is a beautiful campus University, located in the medieval city of Norwich – not unlike Oxford but without tourists! Comprising eighteen Schools of Study, UEA enjoys an international reputation in diverse areas: film studies, creative writing and the pioneering groupings for which we are famous, such as environmental sciences, development studies and world art studies. Degree courses cover a broad spectrum, including natural sciences, social sciences and the arts.

UEA is part of the Norwich Research Park, Europe’s largest Research Centre in Biology and Plant sciences. UEA also has an excellent reputation in the arts, particularly through their links with the literary world and their Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. UEA has an Ivy League rating (top ten in the official British Government academic rankings) in most areas of teaching and research.

Consistently ranked as a UK TOP 30 UNIVERSITY, the University of East Anglia is famed for its high quality teaching, innovative courses and world-leading research. It also prides itself on the excellent levels of support it provides its students.

ACTUARIAL SCIENCE (WITH A YEAR IN INDUSTRY)

The BSc in Actuarial Science provides students with a high-quality degree programme covering interrelating subjects including core mathematics, statistics, finance and economics, to enable them to become experts in risk management. Students can gain exemptions for the first seven (CT1-CT7) professional examinations set by the UK Actuarial Profession.

WHY CHOOSE UEA

One of the strengths of the course is that it features a close collaboration with Aviva, which participates in the teaching and provide placement opportunities. Actuarial Science students receive tuition from practicing actuaries on two different modules at the headquarters of Aviva.

Another special feature of this course is that Year 3 is spent in a business placement, working alongside practicing actuaries. The University will assist students in finding an appropriate placement and placements will be paid employment.
