It is one of the few universities in the UK able to offer two year fast-track degrees for Management, Marketing and Law, although it also offers four-year extended degrees with a year in industry. The University of Northampton also leads and engages in a wide variety of research at regional, national and international level. In the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, the University was recognised as a world leader for its research activities.

Since first opening its doors in 1924 as Northampton Technical college, Northampton has grown into a full-fledged university which now houses approximately 14,000 students on two campuses, Park Campus and Avenue Campus.
